Today’s Truths gets its name from Sojourner Truth, one of the first women of color activists in the United States. She fought against systematic and social racism/sexism in the United States, and dedicated her life to activism. Truth is most known for her trip around the country where she famously delivered the speech “Ain’t I a Woman?”. Truth preached that women were just as capable as men, regardless of their race, and deserve equal opportunities. She specifically emphasized how women are not given the same job opportunities based on their race and sex.
Her work in furthering women’s rights is extremely significant and we wish to carry on her legacy. The struggles she spoke of are still prominent today in most minority countries. We hope to put a dent in these issues, and open up doors for women in these communities that have never been opened before. The goal of Today’s Truths is to support minority women in their entrepreneurship journeys, specifically in South Asia. We not only fund their journeys but give them the tools and guidance necessary to establish themselves independently.
